KEEP THE CHANNEL OPEN
WRITTEN BY SAGINE SÉMAJUSTE WITH A POEM BY MARTHA GRAHAM
I told you there would be poems. Some written by me and some that have had a huge impact on my life. These words, written by Martha Graham, have served me for years. They have reminded me that we are one of one. That we all have a purpose to fulfill in this life. And if we stop it, the world will miss out on what could have been. Imagine that? That’s how impactful we all are. We matter! You matter! Don’t think that you don’t. Not even for a second. Step into yourself and get that idea out. Big or small. No matter how insignificant you might think it is, it’s not. Let it live outside of you and watch it grow. And don’t judge or question it. That’s not your job…
YOUR JOB IS TO REMAIN OPEN TO THE WHISPERS AND OBEDIENTLY EXECUTE WHAT IS BEING ASKED OF YOU. THE REST IS IN GOD’S HANDS.
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. …No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others” Martha Graham
